The Manhattan Developmental Disabilities Council presented its 21st Annual Legislative Breakfast on Friday March 5th at Barnes & Noble Union Square. With Helene Craner, RCSN Associate Director, as Chair of the Legislative Committee, the event drew over 200 people to discuss current issues with key city, state and federal legislators.

Judy DeIasi, Chair of the Council, presented the Council’s legislative agenda with help from a consumer and parents that focused on restoring proposed cuts in the NY State budget and the maintenance of services for people with developmental disabilities in the city budget.

NY State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) Commissioner Diana Jones Ritter and Dr. Adam Karpati, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) Associate Commissioner, Assembly Members Richard Gottfried and Micah Kellner, and City Council Member Oliver Koppell also addressed the group.
