Help for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and others caring for children with special needs

It can be overwhelming to discover that the child you are raising has a health, learning, emotional or behavioral issue, and to understand and navigate the education and community services systems on their behalf. You are not alone. RCSN can help.
 
Call us at 212-677-4650. RCSN staff can help you obtain evaluations, identify schools, find afterschool programs, learn how to work with your school to prepare for an IEP meeting, and much more!  If you are raising a child, you are fully qualified to be the “Parent Member" of an IEP team. RCSN staff can help you access training and support. 

Attend a workshop. RCSN has more than 30 scheduled workshops in all 5 boroughs, focusing on topics from Early Intervention to preparing for life after 21. Join other parents, grandparents, kinship caregivers and professionals to learn, exchange information, and support each other. Invite us to your grandchild's school or to your church or community organization! Workshops are free for groups of 12 or more.  So take charge and be the ringleader – and contact us to set a date!

Join us at the Special Camp Fair! On January 29, 2011 from 11am-3pm, RCSN’s free Special Camp Fair will be held at St. Paul's the Apostle Church located at W. 61st Street and Columbus. You will have the opportunity to meet representatives from 60 day and sleepaway camps, and pick up information on other summer fun options for your youngster. You will also receive a free copy of our CAMPS 2011-2012 directory, which has a comprehensive list of more than 350 camps, each with a detailed description and contact information.
