Was your child born in 2006?

This year, the Department of Education is late in starting the process to determine what type of special services preschoolers with disabilities will need when they enter kindergarten in the fall. Many parents haven’t been contacted yet, so it may not occur to them to register at their zoned school--or apply to community schools of interest--prior to an evaluation.

However, that is exactly what you must do in to ensure your child a seat in September! The deadline is March 4.

All families--including those with children with disabilities--are encouraged to register for kindergarten. This is important, even though you may be just beginning the process of referral, evaluation and meeting to determine what type of special education services your child will need.

Remember, kindergarten isn’t compulsory. It's a parent's choice. Make your wishes for kindergarten known by registering now!
