About Resources |
Resources shares knowledge and support to empower parents and other New Yorkers who care about young people with disabilities. Founded in 1983 by three moms who were looking for resources for their children, Resources has grown to be the premier source for knowledge and help with systems, programs and services affecting young people with disabilities in New York City.

Help for families to understand and negotiate educational and human services systems
Information for families and professionals: outstanding publications, and the largest and most comprehensive database of schools, services, and other supports for young New Yorkers with disabilities.
Training and Workshops in Spanish and English for families, professionals, and community organizations
Community events, such as the annual Camp Fair, to bring connect people and resources
Systems advocacy to improve educational and social opportunities and outcomes for young people with disabilities
Consultation and training services
Resources is a Parent Training and Information Center and a New York City Parent Center with support of the United States and New York State Departments of Education.

A NEW DIRECTOR |
Resources is happy to announce the selection of a new Executive Director. Rachel Howard began her tenure as Executive Director on March 1st.. She succeeds Karen Schlesinger, Resources' Executive Director and co-founder, who stepped down after twenty-five years .
Rachel joins Resources after a 20-year-long career in system advocacy, service development, public policy, and management of organizations affecting young people with disabilities and their families. After earning her masters degree at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, she served as a Presidential Management Intern in Washington, D.C. and then as Director of Government Relations and Policy Analysis at the Maryland State Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities. In Baltimore, Rachel directed community services for Jewish Family Services and then helped expand school and therapeutic services for young people with significant emotional disabilities for Sheppard Pratt, a major behavorial health system. In New Jeysey, Rahcel worked in nonprofit management and service development at Educational Collaborations, most recently as Assistant Executive Director.

You will also be able to view amazing artwork by the artists featured in some of the documentaries that will be shown during the weekend.
There will also be an exhibit of photographer John Milisenda's work. The subject of the photographs is John’s family; his parents and his brother, Dennis, a young man with developmental disabilities. He has been photographing them from 1968 to present.
Lastly, your ticket to the festival also includes free admission to the Museum.
