MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR

Rachel Howard - new Executive Director of RCSN.
2008 was an exciting first year for me to join RCSN. We celebrated our first 25 years of service, during which RCSN helped more than 231,360 people find and obtain programs and services of all kinds for children with learning, developmental, emotional and physical disabilities, health issues and other special needs.  We also conducted training for more than 66,500 parents and professionals, and reached many thousands more through publications, special events, our website and our searchable database. As we enter our second-quarter century, we are entering a critical new phase of information management and dissemination to help empower New York City families.  Please keep checking this website for announcements about our new services and activities.

RCSN NEWS AND VIEWS

Announcing The Bronx Parent Center Without Walls™ and Manhattan Parent Center Without Walls™

RCSN announces the launch of The Bronx Parent Center Without Walls™ and Manhattan Parent Center Without Walls™!

RCSN is partnering with Advocates for Children of New York (AFC), in Manhattan and the Bronx, and the Jewish Child Care Association (JCCA), in the Bronx, to help parents of children with special needs understand their rights, learn how to obtain evaluations and direct services for their children, and how to become more confident and effective advocates.

The Centers offer:

  • Workshops and information sessions, in Spanish and English, at schools and community organizations
  • Direct assistance -- in person or by telephone -- for families in understanding, preparing, or obtaining appropriate educational services
  • Skilled bilingual staff, with significant experience in all aspects of public education from Early Intervention through transition to adulthood

We encourage you to refer families to us for direct assistance, and to bring us to your organization to speak with your parents and staff. All services are free. For Center locations, hours, or to refer a family or to arrange a workshop, clinic, or information session, contact Nina Lublin at nina@resourcesnyc.org or 212-677-4650.
